Border authorities register travel-document details, a facial image and fingerprints. Children under 12 are not fingerprinted, although they remain subject to border checks. \nIndustry bodies reported border waits reaching up to five hours at some airports during peak periods after the full rollout. That is not a typical wait at every airport, and delays depend on staffing, equipment, flight schedules and the number of travellers requiring first-time registration.
